US Government

The government of the United States of America is made up of thousands of workers at different levels: national, state, and city. Today, I will be explaining the most important aspects of the national government. The national government of the United States is split into three branches: the judicial branch, the legislative branch, and the executive branch. The purpose of this division of power is to provide checks and balances, where the branches continuously regulate each other and to prevent one part of the government from gaining too much power.
The judicial branch’s job is interpret and make decisions on the law through the court system and legal cases. It contains the Supreme Court, the highest court in America with nine justices. The legislative branch’s job is to create and vote upon new laws and legislation. This branch is made up of the House of Representatives, with 435 lawmakers, and the Senate, with 100 lawmakers. The executive branch is made up of the President and their hired Cabinet and workers. The president is known as the “head of state” and “commander-in-chief” of the United States. The executive branch enforces and executes the laws.
