Nestled in a small nook at the end of the average American neighborhood is what, at first, seems to be just another pocket of forest, one of many which dot the Reynoldsburg landscape. Upon seeing it, it may be initially dismissed, however, with closer inspection comes the realization that there exists a plot of pristine nature seemingly untouched by man. This is Pine Quarry Park. Although not as large as our Blacklick Woods Metro Park or our Civic Park, Pine Quarry is a stunning little gem. Originally a quarry, the primary export of Pine Quarry Park was limestone which was used to mix concrete, mortar, or cement. After mining of the quarry was halted, likely due to a shortage in limestone, the site was abandoned and the surrounding forest was left to regrow. Later, the area was designated a protected park and two bridges were installed to allow people to more easily traverse the terrain. Though it may not be the largest or best known park, Pine Quarry is a personal favorite and local beauty worth a short trip in the very least.
