One of my favorite things about life is the music I get to enjoy. I like to make music and to listen to music made by other artists. My introduction to music was band class in 6th grade. From the beginning, I chose to play the oboe and developed those skills from now until my sophomore year of high school. Without band class here I wouldn’t have made the friendships or talents that I have today. In symphonic band and marching band, I make music with people who enjoy it as much as I do. I play the oboe, which is similar to the clarinet and the flute, and the baritone, which is similar to the trombone. In marching band, we play shows with composed music at OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) adjudicated events to compete for ratings. Band brings me closer to people who love playing music as much as I do.

I listen to a wide range of music from classical to pop to rock. Some of my favorite artists are Kali Uchis, Billie Eilish, and Nicki Minaj. My favorite thing about music is the fact that you can get lost in it when you’re upset or needing a break from normal life.
